The General Data Protection Regulations and Data Privacy

On this page, we aim to provide you with more information on how we use your data and protect your privacy.

We promise that we will never sell your information to any other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes, and you can easily opt-out at any time (either now, or later).

At Derbyshire Heritage Walks, we are fully aligned with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) for a safe and secure Internet. We aspire to embrace privacy by design and, whenever possible, to not collect and store personally identifiable information. For the personal data we do collect, we are committed to your right to privacy and to being transparent about how and why we store your data.

What Information Do We Collect?
The only information we collect is that necessary to process your booking or fulfill your photograph order. This can include your name, postal address, e-mail address and contact telephone number.

How I Your Information Stored?
All information that we hold is stored securely on a single password-protected computer, with a back-up held on a password-protected stand-alone hard drive. We do not hold any hard-copy copies of your data. If you have used PayPal to pay for your booking or order, then your information is also held on their system (over which we have no control). Information may also be held on the secure server of the web-based e-mail system that we use in the form of copies of e-mails sent or received by us.

How Is Your Information Protected?
All of the information that we hold on our computer is protected by multiple passwords, both on the computer itself and on the individual files. The computer itself is protected by high-quality anti-virus and anti-malware software, which is updated several times each day and scans run regularly. The information held by PayPal and the web-based e-mail service is also password protected and held on the company's own secure servers.

Do We Use Cookies?
Like almost every other website on the Internet today, this website does use cookies. The only thing they are used for is as part of Google Analytics, so that we can tell how successful this site is at attracting visitors and which pages they look at most. As these are provided to us by Google, and we can't change the underlying technology used by Google Analytics, there's not much that we can do about them other than to warn you about them via a warning on each page, which advises you to not use this site if you don't want any cookies on your system, and to clear your cookies and cache files after leaving this site.

What Do We Use Your Information For?
The only things we use your information for are the obvious things like knowing where to send your booking details or photographs, for contacting you in the event of problems with your booking, and so that we know who is on a certain walk in the highly unlikely event of an emergency during the walk.

Do We Pass Your Information On To Others?
No, absolutely not! As strong believers in the rights to personal privacy, we absolutely hate how governments and large corporations seem to think they have the right to know everything about us and what we do. As a result, we promise that we will never sell your information on to any other organisation. We will also resist any attempts by those organisations, including governments and law-enforcement agencies to access your information without due legal process.

Deletion Of Data
You have the right to request that we delete all of your personal data. If you wish to inquire about the right to be forgotten, you are able to reach out to us at any time.
