Cromford Wharf to Black Rocks Circular Walk
|
This circular walk takes in a number of interesting parts of the Cromford area. Having followed the Cromford Canal to High Peak Junction, it follows the route of the famous Cromford & Hight Peak Railway along the High Peak Trail up the first of the many inclines where wagons were once hauled up by powerful steam engines. It then cuts through sheltered woods and along farm tracks as it climbs to the hilltop village of Bolehill. From there, it moves on to the popular climbing location and viewpoint of Black Rocks, before rejoining the High peak Trail to descend the hillside for a return to the starting point at Cromford Wharf.

Cromford - Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution
This two-mile walk shows you all of the most interesting areas of the historic mill village of Cromford, where inventor Richard Arkwright set up his pioneering cotton mills that started the Industrial Revolution. The walk ends at the gates of Cromford Mill, where you can take a tour of the site led by a guide from the Arkwright Society, or just wander around and visit the shops.
